I have been teaching yoga, experiential movement, and body awareness as healing arts since 2005. For nearly two decades, I’ve worked as a Yoga Teacher and Yoga Therapist (C-IAYT), and led a respected yoga teacher training program in Christchurch. Today, I bring the depth of these body-based practices into my work as a Somatic Experiencing Practitioner® (SEP).

As a somatic therapist, I support people to deepen body awareness, access and stay with their body sensations, understand and support their unique nervous system, and build the inner and outer resources needed to meet life as it is.

My one-to-one sessions are anchored in Somatic Experiencing® but also harvest extensive study in applied psychology, Nonviolent Communication (NVC), Eastern philosophy, counselling, and somatic narrative writing. I offer somatic therapy for physical, emotional, and mental health challenges, and mentorship for yoga teachers, therapists, and allied professionals seeking to integrate a somatic lens into their work.

I completed the full three-year training in Somatic Experiencing and I’m a registered SEP. I’ve also trained in the Somatic Regulation & Resilience approach with Kathy Kain and Steve Terrell to become a Co-Regulating Touch practitioner. I hold a Postgraduate Diploma in Counselling (First Class Honours), and in 2024 completed a Master’s in Creative Writing at Victoria University.

Our bodies are storied. I’m deeply interested in how the body holds experience — how sensation, emotion, and the stories we create from them inform our ways of being. In somatic therapy, we explore these connections with curiosity and compassion, fostering resilience, presence, and meaning.

Terms of Use for seaoteroa.co.nz Practitioner Directory

seatotearoa.co.nz offers a Practitioner Directory designed to help you find practitioners who include Somatic Experiencing in their therapeutic, coaching, or counselling services. All practitioners listed here have completed at least the first year of Somatic Experiencing training (Beginning year modules).

PLEASE NOTE:
The main purpose of this Practitioner Directory is to help you connect with Somatic Experiencing practitioners. All practitioners listed here have training in Somatic Experiencing. Many also bring other skills and approaches to their work, which they may choose to share in their listing. Each practitioner is responsible for the information they provide about their training, qualifications, certifications, and opinions, whether in their directory listing or on their website. We do not verify insurance, professional memberships, or qualifications in other modalities.

This directory is a paid listing service and does not include every SEP or SE student in Aotearoa, as participation is optional. It is intended as a helpful starting point for finding Somatic Experiencing practitioners.
